  • 1.1 Multi sensor system for detection of adulteration in milk

    CSIR-CEERI had developed milk adulteration detection system having capabilities to detect adulterants like urea, salt, detergent, caustic soda, ammonium sulphate, boric acid and hydrogen peroxides et based on electrochemical methods. The technology of the system was also transferred to two industries for manufacturing and commercialization. Skimmed milk powder is also adulterated with these adulterants. Besides milk, the issue of adulteration in khoa and paneer also needs to be addressed. Still there are few more adulterants like formaldehydes, sugar and maltodextrin are needed to be detected. Therefore, there is an urgent need to address the problem of detection and quantification of these adulterants at affordable cost so that industry can absorb the technology and benefited by the same.
